The International Society of Digital Medicine is an international organisation joining together groups and individuals in order to establish a platform for academic exchange and collaboration in digital medicine among scientists from different countries who are devoted to digital medicine research and its application to improve diagnosis and treatment, thus promoting the development of medicine. It aims to establish an apolitical mechanism to promote communication on digital medicine based on principles of openness, equity, transparency, and non-discrimination, while respecting country sovereignty and avoiding interference with domestic policies.

The International Society of Digital Medicine (ISDM) was officially launched in Nanjing, China at an international conference on digital medicine attended by invited representatives from across the globe. The Founders of ISDM are also responsible for an industry research journal, The Digital Medicine Journal published online every quarter. Since its foundation, ISDM has been building a global membership beginning with a European Chapter founded in 2016 by David Wortley and involving over 200 participants from across Europe.
Professor Zhang is now the President and architect of a state of the art 3,000 bed hospital in Guizhou province and a leader in the application of digital technologies to medicine, health and wellbeing.
