Dr Yannis Pappas is Head of the Doctorate School in the Institute for Health Research, Associate Professor in Health Service Organisation and Delivery with the University of Bedfordshire and Senior Fellow with the Higher Education Academy in England. Dr Pappas’ research is interdisciplinary and supports service organisation and delivery as well as policy making in health and social care. Dr Pappas generated approx. £2m in research and consultancy income in the past seven years. At national level he is making a contribution by serving as Member of the NIHR Advisory Panel for Research for Patient Benefit.
The NIHR is a leading research council in the UK with an annual budget of £400 million. He has been training Academic GPs with the London Deanery for the past 5 years and was recently invited to join the Society of Academic Primary Care, the RNOH Trust Research Advisory Panel and was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship with the East and North Herts NHS Trust to improve health service organisation and delivery in orthopaedics. Dr Pappas has also served in several other NHS and academic committees.
At international level, Dr Pappas’ work in eHealth has attracted opportunities for consultancy with foreign organisations such as the Ministry of Health - Malaysia, the Ministry of Health - United Arab Emirates, the eHealth Observatory - Italy, and opportunities to advise on the development of curricula in health services research and delivery, in Asia and in Europe. Dr Pappas led the evaluation of a £20m integrated care intervention in North West London and a multi-agency education programme for NHS Hammersmith and Fulham whilst Head of Education in North West London.
Dr Pappas was recently invited to join the Eastern Academic Health Science Network (EAHSN) as Operational Researcher.
