Having completed my medical school in India, I decided to get higher training in the UK in anaesthesia and intensive care. I trained in the East of England region in anaesthesia which included a fellowship in Burns management in a tertiary regional burns centre. I have been a Consultant Anaesthetist in Cambridge university hospital for the last 6 years. My special interest areas are Major trauma anaesthesia and major gastric/oesophageal cancer resections. I continue to be involved with clinical quality improvement projects in the areas of major trauma anaesthesia and anaesthesia for oesophagectomy to improve patient outcomes.
I have obtained a post-graduate certificate in medical education from Cambridge university as I enjoy teaching both undergraduates and post-graduates. I am an Associate lecturer in the Cambridge university clinical school of medicine.
I lecture on human factors training in national courses and have a keen interest in emotional intelligence which I teach the medical students and my post-graduate students. I am the lead for Anaphylaxis for the department and was the local lead for the National anaesthesia project (NAP6) from the Royal college of anaesthetists last year. I work closely with the allergy specialists in the department.
