On April 16, 2021, the National High-Performance Medical Device Innovation Center and the Cambridge Medical Academy of the United Kingdom had a very fruitful kick-off meeting.
The British representative at this meeting was the CEO of Cambridge Medical Academy and three academicians. The Chinese representatives' consortium was composed of well-known domestic clinical experts, industry representatives, leaders and scientists from innovation centers.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. McCourt, Deputy Director of Medical and Life Sciences of the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, delivered a speech on behalf of the British side. Professor Liu Xin, General Manager of the Innovation Center, and Mr. Takis Kotis, CEO of Cambridge Medical Academy, signed an online contract and delivered a speech.
After the signing ceremony, Dr. Zhao Peng, Director of the Industrial Services Department of the Innovation Center, briefly introduced the current status of the Innovation Center and the industrialization of medical devices in the Greater Bay Area.
Professor Shapiro/Academician of the University of Cambridge introduced the industrialized resources of medical devices in Cambridge Medical Academy. Professor Papaioanou, CEO of Kinemagine, focused on the world’s first open 4D robot-assisted imaging system, and theCEO of Capbuster, McLaughlin introduced an innovative device that penetrates the treatment of chronic total occlusions (CTOs). Professor Grant Stewart and Prof. Tony Riddick of Addenbrooke's Cambridge University Hospital introduced the development status and disciplinary advantages of the Centre of Excellence in Urology.
After the promotion meeting, representatives from China and the UK had a full discussion on the specific cooperation of innovative medical device projects, the establishment of joint laboratories and the international industrialization alliance.
The British representatives of this conference included Mr. Gregg Nourjian, CFO of Kinemagine, Ms. Rita Huang from the Medical and Life Sciences Department of the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, and Ms. Huang Wanqing from Cambridge Medical Academy.
